My Story

Mom

My Story starts with my Mom. June Cecilia Faulkner. Blessed with a beautiful voice, who reminds me she is close every time I let my vibrato rip. Of all the gifts I have from her, anything I sing is all Mom.  Also Mom insisted on my excellence in spelling and grammar and pushed me hard, for which I am grateful.

Dad

Mom met Ralph Oren Breecher in Oxford where he was stationed overseas, I came along at Burderop Park USAF Medical Facility in Swindon. We all moved to the USA when I was a year old. I grew up on Laughlin AFB in Texas, and later moved to Moline Illinois where I went to school.

Somewhere in all of that, I lost a sister, Kari and my Dad. We would not reconnect for 15 years and by then I had discovered my way and was on with it......

Influences - Peter Haycock

Peter Haycock of the fabulous Climax Blues Band. I approached him after seeing he was bringing his latest band to JB's club in Dudley and offered to build him whatever he wanted in appreciation of his major influence on me.

Took it to a BBC session in Maida Vale for him to use...........

Influences - Zal Cleminson

My look in the 80's was inspired by a combination of Marcel Marceau

and Mr Zal Cleminson of SAHB.........2 hours to apply and 2 minutes to sweat down the front of my guitar.....Didn't need to do it, but we were up against some great acts around the college circuit at the time, so paint it!!

Otto's Bazaar 1

The original band with myself Dave Banting & Dave Billingsley. Did a big competition at Birmingham Odeon in front of a big house and lovely PA, missed out because Jim Simson/Robin Valk couldn't spell our name on the night or afterwards in the press......odd!

Otto's Bazaar 2

A step up in approach and stage craft plus some mighty fine songs. Tipped for big things, signed to Roy Massey( Alvin/The Quads)

L-R Gary Carr, Myself and Trevor Foster

Otto's Bazaar 3

The much rockier incarnation of the band with

L-R Myself, Barry Bayliss & Steve (?). Great days with great songs and attitude. The next version of the band Otto's Bazaar 4, featured the mighty impressive Kevin Thursfield on bass guitar. We rehearsed this band with the one & only Bertie and Stevie Young (ACDC) to resurrect Starfighters, but we never made it out of rehearsal.

The Nathan Fury

A Little combo with Steve Wilson, who I got hooked up with through Otto's manager Roy Massy to write some songs.....

"The Nathan Fury" was an extension of that.

Not sure the beret works.....

The Mr Ron's

The Mr Ron's

Premier original R&B Boogie band....Loved these guys, but I am sure the sentiment was not always mutual. Mike Hayes, Richie Heath and I rocked the casbah. I joined as an emergency singer and then as an emergency bass player/vocalist...The blazer/flannels/cravats and brogues were my idea.....

Mr Ron

The Mr Ron's

I joined as an emergency singer and then as an emergency bass player/vocalist...

The Stage wear was an idea to confuse people who might think we were a gentle soul band.....

We were as hard edged as any of our peers which included Dr Feelgood......

Express at JB's Club

Express at JB's Club

A fine rock outfit with whom I did vocal duties.

Ray came into a couple of other bands with me and I am still in contact with Tim Manford who is a lovely guitar player.

Express commitment!

Mr Nathan Fury

L-R Tim, Me, Paddy, Jenks and Ray. The band had a management deal and rehearsal space which I cycled to 3 days a week. Some of the songs were great also and our collaboration ended in some nice stuff, but nothing remains.........

Those 3 Redbeard's from Texas

Mr Nathan Fury

Those 3 Redbeards from Texas was an idea I had in a van with Mike & Richie of the Mr Ron's while we were in a crash barrier returning from a Cornwall show. "Arrested for Driving While Blind", a ZZ Top classic was playing.....Scary!

Buried in a barrier in 1984, came the idea for a cool "play" band. My idea was to wear beards because we could not face being identified.  Mike & Ritchie were having non of it.....we were a cool original band not a cheap knock off act.....

So some other guys from a local club band & Muzo's music store stepped up to do it.

I moved on when they were bored of beards!!

My home depot!

Perched at the end of my garage is my studio.

It is sounding OK, all things considered.

I always seem to carry a capability around to write and record with still a box to tick on a commercial studio in the future.....
